We revealed in August that the Tesla
Cybertruck we purchased had its second steering issue in as many months,
necessitating yet another drawn-out reset before it was operational. We
conducted a team survey and found that a clear majority a) intended to drive at
speeds greater than 4 mph and b) generally favored that the steering system
function. Based on this information, we scheduled an appointment with our
nearby Tesla service shop to have the issue resolved. We were, to put it
politely, confused by the diagnosis.
In summary, we took our Tesla
Cybertruck Foundation Series to our test track in July to undergo our routine
instrumented testing procedure after purchasing it in June. The truck stopped
blowing cold air, disabled rear axle steering, and capped the maximum speed at
the speed of a brisk stroll. You can read the whole crazy story here. We restarted
the truck after 30 minutes of leaving the automobile, and everything returned
to normal. When we had the same problem in August, the Tesla needed fifty
minutes to wake up from its fog.

Brian Wong, a senior editor, oversaw the service visit.
Here's what he had to say about what happened next.
"I picked up the truck on Wednesday afternoon and spoke to Jose, one of
the technicians who handled our case."Coolant was sent with our truck, but
not in sufficient quantities. They said that they do not check the coolant
level as part of the predelivery inspection because it should arrive from the
factory with adequate coolant.
"He agreed that if the coolant
is low, you should notice a coolant error when I questioned why we weren't
seeing any. We didn't, though, since the truck believed the coolant reservoir
was full even though it was primarily empty due to air pressure in the system.
This suggests that the coolant system employs some kind of pressure sensor to
detect leaks or how full it is, which is consistent with how the coolant system
is filled—that is, with a vacuum tool."We cannot add coolant on our own
because this is a closed system. Every time, it needs to go back to Tesla. They
utilize a conventional mixture, which consists of water and antifreeze; he
didnt know the exact mix
