Uganda will join the world in celebrating World Music Day on June 21st with a grand concert at the Kampala Serena Hotel, organised by UrbanLyfe Productions and led by veteran singer Shanks Vivie’D.
The concert will feature a vibrant mix of international and local talent, including Chley, a South African Amapiano star known for "Komasava," remixed with Diamond Platinumz and Jason Derulo. Ugandan stars Winnie Nwagi, Elijah Kitaka, Karole Kasita, and Zani Lady C from the USA, known for "Ndoowa," along with Charles Yimirira Awo, VJOJ, a rising Afrobeat star from Uganda based in the UK, will also feature DJ Shady UK on the decks. Shanks Vivie’D from Uganda is also set to perform.
According to Shanks Vivie’D, the concert is more than just performances; it's a celebration of African music, culture, and rhythm. He also confirmed that tickets are available through MTN MoMo, Next Media Ticketing, and other platforms: Gold Table (8 people): UGX 3,000,000 – includes drinks; Platinum Table (8 people): UGX 6,000,000 – includes drinks and a full platter.
World Music Day, originally launched in France in 1982 by Culture Minister Jack Lang, encourages everyone to play and enjoy music in public spaces every June 21st.
